Why Choose DIHGS (Dignified in Hospital Gowns)

Two nurses created DIHGS with the goal of empowering patients through their healthcare journey.  DIHGS were created with the patient and the providers at the forefront of the design.  DIHGS allow for increased coverage compared with the traditional open backed gown while maintaining all the access and functionality needed by healthcare professionals.  The goal of DIHGS is in the name itself….to allow patients to maintain their dignity in hospital gowns.

The shorts allow for access to both legs and can be put on and taken off while the patient is in bed with minimal movement.  There are snaps on the lateral side of both legs.  There is a drawstring on the front of the waistband and elastic on the back of the waistband for size adjustability and comfort.

The top has snaps on both soldiers allowing for complete access of both arms.  The top can be worn forward or backward.  The overlapping design increases size adjustability, provider access and maximum coverage.  There are interior pockets for surgical drains or nerve blocks.  This allows for ease of carrying of the drains and nerve blocks as well as discretion.  There is access through the exterior pocket for cardiac monitoring devices.

DIHGS have been designed so that a patient can be dressed in the garment while lying in bed with minimal movement.  It also allows patients that are up and walking around the coverage they desire.  There are no more embarrassing walks to the bathroom or down the hall with your bottom exposed.

The garment is perfect for patients recovering from surgery.  The top can be worn with a splint or a sling after shoulder surgery.  The patient can put the top on without having to take the sling off and minimal movement of the arm.  Mastectomy patients have coverage and have two pockets for their drains after surgery.

The shorts are perfect to wear after total hip or total knee surgery.  It allows complete access to both legs while maintaining coverage

DIHGS are a great option for patients that are in the hospital for a prolonged amount of time.  It allows all the access the doctors and nurses need for the care of the patient while providing a semblance of modesty.  Patients can bring in DIHGS to the hospital as an alternative to the traditional open back hospital gown provided by the facility.

Patients that are in hospice and home health can also benefit from wearing DIHGS.  THe caregiver can dress the patient in DIHGS without having to move the patient or get assistance.  The patient also maintains the ability to wear a garment that provides them coverage.

As nurses we aimed to create a product that demonstrates the respect we feel for our patients. We hope DIHGS can help empower you or your loved one on their healthcare journey.

We would love to hear about your experience with DIHGS.  Please feel free to reach out with your experience or questions.
